Why a widgeon? We have a family property on a lake 54nm from the airport that is 10 minutes drive from our house. When I was a kid, we had a Seabee that we used to get up to the cabin. Without the airplane, it's 5-7 hours of driving, waiting for ferries, loading the speedboat to finally get to the cabin....

With 2 kids, and 2 dogs, and me working for an airline, legal useful load is pretty important. I made a spreadsheet for the mission, and looked at the Seabee, Twin Bee, C-185, Helio Courier, Widgeon, and Goose. The widgeon came out on top, the cabin is much more useable with a door to door time under 1.5 hours.
